× Alan Paller, a Mover on Cybersecurity Threat, Is Dead at 76
Having worked on a wide variety of major headlines over the past two decades, Alan Paller has had more assignments than most of us have in a lifetime. In 1996, he appeared as Governor Jesse Ventura on an episode of “Roseanne.”
Alan covered major international political and geopolitical events, including two successive U.S. presidencies as Director of Research in the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Directorate of Cryptologic Electronic Warfare & Analysis. He oversaw the defense of the National Security Agency, as well as the CIA’s Directorate of Technical Collection, Electronic Warfare, Information Assurance and General Information Assurance. In 2012, he appeared in a new episode of “Deadliest Catch” titled “The Best in CYBER WARS,” in which he represented the U.S. Government to a global audience by representing his agency on a panel that debated the objective threats to the country posed by cyber intrusions.
As a prolific cybersecurity writer and public speaker on these topics, Alan was asked to present at many international security conferences, including the Black Hat, Aurora, SANS, North American Aerospace Defense Command, CISCO, and the U.S. Naval War College.
