Former First Lady-turned-TV personality puts them as she heads to an A$AP Rocky concert to kick off private opening of $3.5m fund-raising dinner
Sandra Lee, the former First Lady of New York, took to the stage of a posh fund-raising dinner with a line that may have won her new right-hand man over, or perhaps moved him into the newly redrawn eighth district: “Hot damn. How’s it going?”

Ross Barkan, Soho House executive vice-president, was clearly impressed.
The evening, and the evening’s $2,000-a-head raising as much money as possible for Lee’s Food Bank for New York City, was in the newly redrawn eighth district, which includes swanky SoHo, uptown SoHo and part of Brooklyn.
New York magazine’s Colin Campbell reports that “most of the attendees” at Saturday’s event – 85 people, according to NBC’s Veronica Webb – “were millionaires on sprawling estates.” Politico notes that billionaire Florida energy magnate José Delgado has already pledged $100,000 for the upcoming Democratic primary. Delgado was also at Lee’s fundraising gala.
Later that night, the two were scheduled to host a party with A$AP Rocky and the party’s tent will be decorated with clothes donated by runway designer Christian Siriano.
Lawyer Zephyr Teachout, who announced that she was running on Saturday, also attended. “We wanted to express to the public that we stand for integrity and the way [Cuomo] has governed is the antithesis of both,” Teachout told Women’s Wear Daily, which also notes Teachout’s $1m war chest, but cautions that “she’s a novice politician trying to reinvent herself”.
Cuomo, the two-term governor, who has described himself as the most progressive governor in the nation, is expected to be a heavy favorite for re-election to his seat.
After the party, though, the two come together for a charity benefit at the Four Seasons Hotel for Lilliputian Charm, which pairs third graders with professional designers. When it’s all over, Teachout will head to the concert, where she will “celebrate” A$AP Rocky, who performs next week.
